Hi all,
New to slimming world and got a shock to find out that some of the free foods I had been snacking on are considered tweaks and are not free. Have a Googl

Just incase any one else wonders and panics like I did lol
Tweaks are little changes to the plan - for example using a free food such as cous cous / potatoes / lasagne sheets for something other then they were intended for - this makes them synful. Examples of this includes cous cous cakes and doritos from lasagne sheets

Essentially my reading of it is that especially for carbs, they are only free if 1/3 of your plate for a meal. Another example is cottage cheese scones.

As far as I'm aware, tweaks only apply where you use something in a way not intended as the original purpose of the ingredient. So, the lasagne 'doritios' for example, or using smash mashed potato to make scones. The reason for this is the item is less energy dense (according to SW) and this makes it easier to overeat.
Although you are meant to have at least 1/3 off our plate as what used to be 'super free' on the extra easy plan and this is really a way of a kind off portion control, it's never been stipulated by SW what the rest off our plate must contain and I've certainly never heard that having more than 1/3 of your plate as carbs means it's a tweak. Certainly the section on then S website about tweaks doesn't mention this.
Our consultant always says if you haven't been synning these things and they don't affect your weightloss, then don't worry too much about it.

I like the sound of your consultant, she sounds very sensible. I think I will adopt that attitude!

Its about the technical side of slimming.
Really speaking how much smash or lasagne can you eat? A massive portion maybe. How many 'doritos or potato scones' covered in butter & cheese or chilli can you eat?
They still have calories.
After a big dinner we can still find room for tweaks/ empty calories. I can any way.
