I cooked a batch if red cabbage & it's amazing just 1 syn a portion and great with ham & egg, on a jacket potato (!) or with a meat joint & syn free roast:
Grated apple, sliced onion braise for 2+ hours in a medium oven or slow hob with 3 tblspn each balsamic & red wine vinegar plus a little apple squash or 2 teaspoon of sugar (syn free without)

Isn't red cabbage free or even super free on extra easy?
I now pickle my own, (it's addictive, seriously!)
Brown vinegar, bit of red wine vinegar, salt, red cabbage & pickling spice. That's it! Wallop loads of it onto your plate; tastier & better for you than ketchup. We've eaten 5 jars in a month,( I'm just off now to chop another cabbage & salt it overnight!)

I think technically you're meant to syn the apple if its cooked, but I doubt its very many syns.

sounds delicious!
