I started SW last week and was surprised to find that I can have 5 healthy extras on the EE plan as my daughter is 5 weeks old and being breastfed. My question is has anybody else used this allowance and still lost weight?

Yes me! I lost loads while BFing even though I had the extra healthy As and Bs - it seems like it can't work out, but it really does.
However I started SW when DS was 5 months old, 5 weeks seems very soon after giving birth to be thinking about diets. Also, I was about ready to stop BFing anyway, but I thinking dieting probably did affect my milk production. If you are hoping to continue BFing then I would wait at least another couple of months until you are properly established with it.

5 weeks is too early to start any diet, especially when bf'ing. It will take 12 weeks just for your body to recover post partum. Give yourself a break! Eating healthy is just fine. Leave sw till at least 12 weeks!

You can have 6 healthy extras if ebf. I started when ds2 was nearly 8 weeks after go ahead from the gp and I've not noticed any decline in milk production. I've been doing it for a month now and I've lost 11lbs. SW isn't a diet really it's just healthy eating so I don't see the problem personally as you aren't cutting out any food groups, more about healthier choices.
