SW and breastfeeding

I'm thinking if joining SW. I am still breastfeeding and understand I can have extra HEs for that. Are there extra syns too?

Also someone on another forum says you need a letter from your Dr if BF or pregnant. Is that true?

Finally, do you think it would be ok to take my DD along? She is 11 weeks - obviously if she starting crying I'd whisk her off but thought the first session could be hard?

I'm EBF and have my 5th weigh in tomorrow. DS is almost 10 weeks old, so I started SW when he was 5 weeks old.

You get more healthy extras. How many depends on which plan you follow (extra easy or green/original) and how old your baby is, as well as whether you're giving solids. I currently get 6 HEs if I follow extra easy, 7 on the other plans and that will stay the same now until I give solids at 6 months.

I didn't need a letter from the GP or HV, but I did tell the SW consultant that the HV has said it was fine, which she had.

I have taken DS to a couple of meetings/weigh ins and the consultant is fine with that. I usually sit feeding him for the entire group anyway. Grin

Thanks Midori that is all good to know! Have you had success so far (if you don't mind me asking?)

Well I think so! Grin my weigh in is tonight, so I'll see how I've done then. Last wed was my fourth weigh in and I'd lost 11 1/2lb up to then. I'm pleased with that.

Well done! That's a great result Grin!

I've been doing SW since the end of April when DD2 was 6 weeks old. I didn't talk to a GP or HV. I took DD2 along for quite a few months as I fed her on demand. It was no problem at all. In fact it was quite an ice breaker as everyone cooed over her! She's 9 months old now and weaning but I still get one extra a choice on extra easy/2 extra HE on a green day. I always use the maximum 105 syns per week too. I am one pound off losing 3 stone Grin.

Wow congratulations! V inspiring! I think I will call the group leader and ask what she thinks re DD. She is not the most chilled baby though...

I was ebf dc2 when I first joined SW lost the four stone Smile I put on with him. Put a stone back on when I finished feeding back on the wine rejoined , list it until pregnant again. Rejoined when dc3 2 weeks old lost the 5 Smile stone I put on with him by time he was 5.5 months. I find groups in the day children are expected not so much evening groups. A good consultant makes all the difference so maybe you need a different one/group!!

Hi, just wondering how you're getting on? I'm EBF DD2 and just returned from my second weigh in, doesn't actually feel like I'm dieting but I'm struggling to come up with different HEs. I too take Baelie with me to meeting as my group is very child friendly and everyone loves him to bits. Any help and advise would be appreciated xx
