Slimming World - IBS friendly?

I am considering joining Slimming World but have IBS - oats, beans/lentils, wholegrain cereal and wholegrain bread are all trigger foods. I can only have cornflakes or rice crispies for cereal! Can I still get Healthy Extra Bs in? Has anyone else with IBS had success with Slimming World?

I would honestly ring your local SW co-ordinator. I don't have HEBs 'cos I don't like any of them and prefer using my milk for my cups of tea Blush - and I'm still losing weight !

I have the same dilemma with the added restrictions of no wholemeal (biscuits, crispbreads, cereals, bread), no fruit or veg except carrots and potatoes without skins, no pulses, no seeds.
but cal counting is getting me no-where as its too easy to 'spend' the cals on junk when so many other things are off the menu so I'm contacting the SW after the weekend to see if its do-able!!

Oh witch am in the same boat.... Crohn's disease And colostomy bag so all the same things are out.
I was going to do slimming world and adapt it. I need the incentive of a weigh in.

If you explain your situation, you can work round it. I'm coeliac, and had an allowance for cornflakes as there isn't many other cereals (apart from porridge) that I can have. Give them a call and ask

DH has found it's actually helped his IBS as it's limited his bread / wheat intake.

Some of the Covent Garden soups are Healthy Bs for example. The website is really useful & there's a part when you log in where you can put any health issues and it gives you tips for eating well.

wannabestressfree I am thinking along the same lines ...adapting it a little but having the incentive of WI. I hope your crohns isn't causing you too much pain atm.
Imnotaslimjim Did you call the local consultant or SW head office?
iklboo I'm definitely eating too much bread so that's what I was thinking.
I'm also hoping to add a bit more veg in the form of soups but would never be able to 1/3 superfree so it would be red and green days .

To be fair, we don't really do 1/3 super free. I've lost 4.5 stone this year, DH has lost just over 5.

the triggers I figured out for my ibs were fried food spicy food. though I don't think I figured all the triggers.
since joining sw I've only felt the pains and bloating on one day out of 5 weeks ( used to be every day)
I am a tad constipated though despite eating gallons of fruit. but at the moment it's not really bothering me, andmy doesn't know about the ibs. think I'll just syn some linseed every so often to help things along

I am brand new to SW myself, but I had similar issues with some of WW's advice in the past. I managed to lose weight in spite of substituting some lower fibre foods. I am fine with oats, but have to limit wholewheat, pulses and some veggies.

To be honest, with that list of triggers for your ibs (mine was similar), you be better off on a paleo or primal (grain free) diet. Your gut will than you!
