has anyone ever made these as directed and have them turn out as in the photos?

They take hours to brown when I make them. Top tips anyone?

Use a ridged tray or pizza tray, respray with fry lite half way through cooking.

I had some with my tea, they were very pale but perfectly edible. I agree that I would a bit more colour & crispness, but I was hungry and couldn't wait another 10 minutes!

Panadbois · 08/07/2013 19:57

I do suspect the ones in the mags are fried!

I don't boil mine first like it says to.

LookingForwardToMarch · 08/07/2013 20:42

I've been known to put mine in the frying pan with FryLight, if there taking to long to brown and crisp.

I cook mine about 30 to 40 mins and I've started using the BBQ fry light on them they go perfect! Yum

mum11970 · 15/07/2013 12:01

I boil them first, then whack the oven up full blast to get them brown and crispy.

Smokedsalmonbagel · 30/07/2013 17:21

I turn the oven to as high as it will go for the last 10 minutes to get them to brown.

LightbulbSoup · 02/08/2013 15:40

I put mine in the microwave with beef stock, drain it and then stick them in the oven as usual. Tastes a bit like chippy chips. Yum.

TallulahBetty · 03/08/2013 18:55

I par-boil them for 5 mins first. If I don't, I find that the outsides burn before the middles are cooked. I cook for 25 mins on 170.

thoughtsbecomethings · 03/08/2013 22:29

Had some tonight for the first time, took ages to cook but really yummy
