what age/weight to move out of moses basket & into cot?

Hi I have a DS aged 12 weeks, and he was 12.4lbs at last weigh in! He is starting to look a big bit in his basket now but looks tiny in his cot (he hasnt slept in it yet). Was just wondering when to move him into it? I cant remember what I did with DS1 now 4yrs - but he was already in the cot in our room before I moved him & the cot into his own room at 7 months. Is there a weight limit/recommendation to the moses baskets? What did you do? thanks

I moved ours at 12-ish weeks because he was knocking into the sides and moving it about.... but instead of putting him into huge cot I used a smaller travel cot - cosier. It worked okay I think. Into big cot at 8 months. He loved the space and learnt to sleep on side and tummy then - so I think sometimes more space is more comfortable.

IME when you hear an outraged squawk in the middle of the night and turn on the light to find that your DS has slipped down and is now only half in the moses basket...

I'm sure I've seen someone somewhere suggest putting the baby in the moses basket in the cot for a few days as an interim stage to get them used to the cot.

i believe the advice is move before they sit up ie before 6m, obviously if they are too big sooner then move sooner

I think if they can roll it's safer to ditch the basket in favour of a cot, just in case they fling themselves out

I use a pram carry cot rather than a Moses basket for my DS who is still in it (just) at 6 months, despite being big for his age. But yesterday was the first time he's rolled, and then only from starting on his front, and he can't sit up yet.
