Sleep dilemma - 8-month old baby

Hello.
My baby boy is 8-months and has generally been a good sleeper during the day and the night. I have been weaning him since 5.5 months and since then he has been sleeping through the night half the time and waking up once the other half (more so recently). Although he could be sleeping much worse than he is, I am finding it increasingly difficult to cope with the interruptions at night and find it really difficult to get back to sleep. The only way I can settle him in the night is to give him a breastfeed. He is really unhappy when he wakes. He eats TONS during the day and has 4 breastfeeds, and I don't really understand why he wakes up (usually at 11pm or so). My question is - should I sleep train him? Should I just wait? Any ideas as to why he is waking up? Should I give him a bottle of formula as his last feed at 7pm?
Any advice gratefully received! Thanks!

i think he probably wakes up because he wants milk, and you!

4 breastfeeds a day isn't that much for an 8month old IME, so i would either go with the flow or try and feed more sduring the day

11pm isn't that bad, at least you then get a decent stretch before morning, middle of the night is the worst I reckon lol
