Well, when I say cry for ages, I mean however long I have the guts to leave him, or pop in and out, about 15 minutes for the latter. He gets sooo distressed, and so unhappy and is so tired, that it's out teh other side. He sits there with his arms going round in circles like a bizerk helicopter.

DS2 was the helpful baby that slept alot, not in a "ooh he slept 10 hours straight from day 1" sort of a way, but within the realms of reality; quickly had 4-5 hours sleep at a time, and self settled in his cot from 5 months. Suddenly, at 7 months, he forgot how. It seemed to have come after a temperature and some coloured panadol I got at an airport (so maybe the trip as well?) and he was manic for 48 hours... didn't sleep.

Ever since need to do a very complicated sleep on your lap thing, reading til he turns away then not breath or anything til you know he's asleep, and then a little while later transfer. He will then sleep for up to 7 hours, but not often.

The last couple of days I've had a tummy bug and have put him in the pram (he's huge), and he's gone to sleep in 2 minutes.

Now I'm getting my strength back, any ideas? It's 9.30am here and have someone taking 4 yr old and baby for a walk so I can have a shower and get myself together before the rest of the day.

PS DH has been away, back tonight. I have discovered that he has been giving him loads of milk to settle him at night, but not sure if that's relevant? He's already pretty stuffed before he goes down for the night.

Many thanks

Hi jackaroo, I'm no expert but its seems as if the trip and illness all contributed to your woes. I would try to get him back to his old routine and just stick with it, no matter what. The fact that he's sleeping for 7 hours is good, so take heart from that. It will get better, I promise, I know it's difficult to think when we're this tired!
Mine was also a good sleeper and changed at 8 months, it has never really been that good again but it's also not that bad. HTH

HI Jackaroo, I'm in the very same position with my DS of 10 months!he just seems to not want to sleep at all!!! He refuses to sleep in his cot, he wont settle in the pram (that used to be my only way of settling him before bringing him to the cot), He's pretty comfy in the bed with me sometimes but even at that he's wakin at 4 & 5 in the morning.. As a single parent I have noone to help me out when I need a nights rest!! Hopefullyyour DS settles for you soon and if you've discovered any new tips I'd be very grateful to hear them

many thanks X
