Other than you, who knows how to put your DS to bed?

Sorry, this is a bit daft

So far only me, DH and my mum (once) have done it. DS is 5mo

I worry that if I leave him with someone else, they won't be able to do it and it'll be a problem. He's not even that difficult to put down!

I'm just being paranoid, aren't I? What does everyone else do - leave detailed instructions?

Just get anyone else youd want to to be able to do it NOW.

DS is 3y3m and I am the only person he will tolerate putting to bed otherwise he works himself into a right state. Doesnt really bother me except Im pregnant now with no2 so am bit worried. Crack it whilst theyre young!

Are you talking about potential babysitters? I think mostly we used to go out after DS was asleep and leave detailed instructions as to what to do if he woke. But even when we went out before he went to sleep, it worked fine with more experienced babysitters who were happy to follow our instructions. Go for it!

Def agree with waitingforbedtime re doing it now...

mistressploppy · 11/04/2010 17:43

Oh crap, yes; you're right

Is DS in childcare at all? Or are any of your friends' babies or children? Nursery workers would be a good place to start if you haven't got family locally.

mistressploppy · 11/04/2010 17:49

No, he's just with me all the time. I worry he'll get too reliant on me (I know he's only wee, but...)

I did pick up a card of a local "professional" babysitter, might give her a try

i totally agree with waitingforbetime. My DD is 3.8 and she will only let me put her to bed which is OK most of the time but tonight I really could do with DH doing bedtime as I have a horrible cold and feel lousy so try getting other involved early.

BTW it doesn't sound daft

BrokenBananaTantrum · 11/04/2010 17:52

that should have read getting others involved early sorry

researchquery · 11/04/2010 17:52

Do that - grab DH and go for a drink, all the while staring nervously at your mobile before legging it home after about an hour. Or was that just me
