How to get DS to give up grobag and use duvet?

DS1 has been in grobags from 3 months and they really have been a godsend. Thing is he is now 26 months and would like to get him to use duvet or sheets/blankets. He wont entertain the duvet at all - " get it off mummy". He likes the big blanket I got for him but now tries to sleep with it on top of his grobag! He just loves his grobag to bits and whilst there is still a bit of room left in it there will come a time when he grows out of it. Any tips on how to get him moved out of it, and anyone else's toddler the same?

DD stayed in hers till she was pushing 3, then we weaned her off it as she went into a big bed/duvet. I do remember though that she only began to get excited about duvets when we let her choose her own cover in John Lewis (you can imagine the princess monstrosity she has ended up with).
But anyway, why the hurry? Once they're in duvets, they get horribly mobile and you worry about them catching cold at night.

Mine had a Grobag up until a few weeks ago when the heat meant it could not be used (even the really thin ones). Last week I attempted to get one back on and DS went nuts. In the end we went out and bought a "big boys duvet" with a nice duvet cover - result = DS can't wait to get beneath it at night.

interested in this. Jess has just turned 1 and at the end of the summer, i want to lose the grobag and get her to sleep with duvet. I cant justify spending more money on a larger winter grobag when she has a duvet and can use that instead! Maybe im just a mean mummy i dont know!!!

My Dd is 26months and still in her gro-bag. She loves it and although we bought her the winnie the poooh duvet she won't entertain it. We are buying her a junior bed near christmas time and then hopefully she will drop the grobag when she uses her big girl bed, if not we will let her use it until it gets too small for her.

We switched after DS broke his cot in a fit of extreme trampolining (in grobag). Had a couple of nightmarish nights where he just wouldn't stay in bed but he eventually settled and LOVES it now. Started off with putting him down for his nap on top of the duvet and then sneaking in and covering him, that kind of thing. Also once he was staying in most of the night we went and chose a duvet cover together so now he sleeps under dayglo aliens.

Only thing that stops him wandering the house in the night is the sturdy stairgate in his doorway,.

Thats why we are getting dd a new bed as her cot is on its last legs with her jumping in it. It done my ds perfectly 6yrs ago and now dd has broken it!
