Ds is 9wks today. All well and coping with having two. The struggle I am having is dd-3 is being kept to her 7pm bed but can't get ds to settle on cot and heblikes to co sleep on the boob. Want to get him to go down in cot at least for first part of night but think he will cry and this wakes dd. Swaddling worked for day or two but no more and now spits dummy out that gave him. Any tips?

Hi

DD was like that at first - just wanted the boob constantly night and day and not just for feeding. She just loved the comfort of it.

She would stay downstairs with us in the evening in her moses basket and then up to bed with in (still in moses basket next to bed) and then be on and off the boob all night.

That said by the time she was 9 weeks we ran into the issue of moses basket being too small. So we moved her to her cot and that was fine and during the evening she's sleep downstairs in her carrycot from stroller until we took her up for bedtime.

She stayed in her own room and only woke up a couple of times a night after we'd moved her in there. So perhaps DH's snoring was waking her in our room hence needing the boob so much?

If you do want DS to settle for the evening on his own and don't want him in moses basket/carrycot/whatever with you in the lounge, perhaps try different type of dummy?? DD accepted various dummies when we introduced them a 4 weeks but was totally hooked once we gave her the Avent ones.

Not sure what else to suggest for you. .... Perhaps keep DS in a sling or babybjorn with you in the evening? I know you wont have a life or arms to do anything with but if it keeps the peace?

Hope something works for you!
