my 11 wk old bf dd over the past couple of weeks has decided that she will wake up up to 5x a night either to feed or to just whine (or more often both).

she has started managing more than 2 hours btwn feeds in the day (quite often 3) but after a sleep from about 2030 to midnight tops will sometimes wake wanting feeding an hour after the last one.

any ideas on how to stop this? she was awake for 2 hours last nite, i fed her twice and she then lay in her basket sucking her fists- could this be early teething?

aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Could be - but some babies often move backwards sleepwise for a while, before settling again. Check her gums for signs, she may also just being doing it for comfort - ditto the feeds.

You could try:
having her sleep in with you; a dummy; a bottle at night (I know, I know - I breastfed both of mine, and did try this, but made no difference)

If she is just sucking her fists but seems OK, you need to try to sleep - she'll be fine and will certainly let you know if she is distressed.
