HELP - any baby whisperers out there?

i'm planning to sleep train my DD (8mo) using the baby whisperer method starting next week, but there are a couple of things i'm not sure about:

  • i get the thing about staying at home for the first two weeks to establish the routine, but after that, are you allowed to let them nap out and about? and if they wake up after 30/40 mins in the pushchair, how do you do the pu/pd method to get them back to sleep?
  • DD is currently swaddled at night. should i go cold-turkey with the swaddle at the same time, or will this be too much change for her in one go?
  • she's not a particularly enthusiastic eater of solids, and she doesn;t take a bottle. so any suggestions on how to 'tank her up' enough to be able to drop the 2am feed??

thanks, i'm really hoping this new routine will solve her sleep problems and give me my sanity back!!

Hello! I can't be of lots of help but I saw no-one had replied...I do this routine with my 5m ds and it works well, except he does the short nap thing sometimes so we have to fudge the timings....

I'm not sure how pu/pd works either, sorry!

I got rid of the swaddle by doing it looser and looser and then ditching it altogether. I put ds in a sleeping bag with a thin swaddle on top for a while, then lost the swaddle and just used the bag. Took about 2 weeks.

I found that by gradually reducing the amount he ate at night feeds he soon couldn't be bothered to wake up. For about 2 weeks he woke, but after a cry and a cuddle would go back to sleep. So now he has his last feed at 6pm, then bath and bed at 7pm - sleeps til 7am!

Good luck, it's a great routine to get into (nice and flexible and you can bend it to suit you)
