short nap thing - DS improved, now he's got worse again

DS is 5 months - just started to take longer naps after doing the annoying 40min thing for aaages.

Then we had a rather exciting weekend and now he's back on short naps, just when I smugly thought we had it cracked.

Someone please tell me this is a blip?

It's a blip.

(Sadly I can't say this from experience - DS is only 3 months old.)

Thanks anyway!

Can't give any advice but can reassure you you're not alone as DS2 is the same - 5 months too. Have just bought the No Cry Nap Solution book (thought it was the sleep one ) and there's some good tips in there. Mainly centered around rousing them (not waking fully) just before the end of a cycle, or watching for them starting to wake and doing whatever you do to get them to sleep again then. Premise is that they then 'blend' their sleep cycles.
I'll be trying it this week when all is back to normal after Easter weekend.

Thanks Scarlotti. I was just so peed off that he's begun to improve but gone backwards again. He is now just really hit and miss, meaning I don't want to go in and help him 'blend', just in case I wake him up when he was going to do a long sleep on his own!

Will just have to wait and see....good luck with your DS. Did your first one do this as well?

No, my other two were good nappers so like you I'm a bit as to what's going on. Am hoping it rights itself and I don't have to do too much hocus pocus to get it sorted!
