Sleeping arrangements at childminder's

Hello,

We've just started the settling in period with my DS (6 months).

The childminder has set up a cot for him in a rather bright corridor off the living room. I asked her if he couldn't sleep upstairs in a darkened room and she replied that she'd prefer to have him downstairs with her, as she can't go running up and down the stairs when she has two other charges (aged 18 monts and 3 years). So it's for her convenience really.

DS has pretty regular naps at home, in his own, darkened room. His nights are touch and go, with at least one wakening, sometimes more often, especially if teething. I'm worried his sleep is going to be totally disrupted now.

Am I being too PFB about this and overreacting, or would this be a deal breaker for you?

Thanks for your advice!

She has to consider the needs of all the children she is caring for and has decided that this is the best way to go; also he will be closer for checking which is a good thing, yes?

The CM will have strategies for structuring his naps, around his needs and your wishes (sometimes the two won't match, remember) and you will be surprised at how adaptable your baby is and may well be planning 'quiet' activites with the other children whilst yours is sleeping so he is not disturbed

If all else is fine then go with the flow

It would be a deal breaker for me as my DC would not sleep like that

Well, surprise surprise, DS actually had a 30 minute nap at the CM's today (and it's only the second time he's been there). I would never have believed it. So I was panicking needlessly!
