Does anyone else's LO sleep in their room and sleep through the night?

Just wondered...

DD2 (8 months) who has always been a poor sleeper is still in with us. Intention was she would go in with her sister once her sleep settled down but that hasn't happened yet.

She was waking every couple of hours which worsened to every hour to hour and a half until two weeks ago, at which point i couldn't cope any more, i was feeding her back to sleep each time and was a wreck.

Anyway she is now on formula (needed to make the switch due to work ect) and just under 2 weeks ago slept through for the first time, she then did this twice more and then got a bug and the sleep packed up. We had been sleeping in the living room to try and get her to sleep better and stayed there for another week but decided enough was enough last night and moved back in. She woke 11:15 and didn't go back to sleep till closer to 1, she has now woken at 415 and won't go back to sleep.

At least when i was BF i could try and get her back to sleep this way, didn't always work but would calm her.

Just don't know what to try now, said to OH i think we should just buy and airbed and sleep in the living room permanently until she can go in with her sister.

Any ideas, we tried co-sleeping for several months but didn't work at all she would wake up and even if fed wouldn't settle.

It sounds like DD2 would sleep better in her own space. Could DD1 sleep in your room on a small futon until DD2 learns to sleep on her own in DD1's room (lots of bribery to DD2 I suspect!) then move them in together?
