How to get 6 month DD to sleep beyond 5.30

Can anyone give me any tips on how to make DD sleep in longer than 5.30, have tried later bedtime but that doesn't make any difference... 5.30 is just too early to start the day every day!

I'm so so sorry to tell you this, but probably nothing. We tried every trick in the book with ds1 (although someone here will probably suggest 'wake to sleep' and we didn't try that as I couldn't face the thought of waking him earlier in case it didn't work) and he has just always been an early bird!

He's now 4 and has a clock with a light that changes at a set time (6.15) so even if he's awake earlier he stays in his room. But that's a long way off for you. Dh and I used to take it in turns to get up with him rather than having him in bed with us keeping us awake - he would never settle in our bed.

Ds2 (7 months) on the other hand, snuggles down with me if he wakes early - I give him a little feed lying down and he'll snooze til 7ish. Not sure how this will work as he gets older but it's fine for now.

Sorry but there's no hope. LOL. DS is the same, you just have to find ways of coping with it. Go to bed earlier yourself. When he wakes, get up and watch telly together for a while in your pj's and enjoy the time together. Have a cup of tea.

With kids it's usually easier to go with the flow than try and push them into a routine. After all, he can't help when he wakes up can he? You'll both end up stressed.

DS is now 3 and a half and still wakes around 6:30 - 7ish, but that's later than he used too! Putting him to bed later makes no difference, he just wakes up grumpy.
