Where does your newborn sleep downstairs with your toddler around?

DS2 is due in 7 wks, DS1 has just turned 2. I'm trying to work out what DS2 will be in/on downstairs in the early days. I don't have a moses basket and wasn't really planning on getting one as DS1 never slept in it downstairs. I will have a sling but would rather not have the baby asleep in it all the time. I will have a Phil and Ted's Sport with Cocoon so perhaps this might do, or I was thinking of a bouncer that could lie quite flat in the early days that I could then sit up later on?

What has anyone else done - I'm keen that this isn't something that DS1 will be able to tip over or play with too much, if that's at all possible!

My kept newborn in a carrycot in the living room. I had a 22 month old DD at the time, and it protected her from the older ones 'plaing'.
When she was a bit older she slept in the pram (which was flat and had a mattress in).

I used to put ds2 in a bouncy chair sometimes. Mainly I put him upstairs in his bedroom though - otherwise ds1 would have poked him or bounced on him or woken him up somehow.

P&T cocoon might be a bit warm imo.

In the pram n the kitchen

My DS2 sleeps in the P&T cocoon in the buggy which we have to park in the living room (front door opens straight onto it).

He sleeps well in there. Does get woken up by DS1 dropping things/shouting etc, but I think he's getting used to it!

DS1 sometimes peers in and has tried to climb in a couple of times but was told not to and hasn't done it again. I feel pretty safe with him there, more so than the moses which would topple over more easily.

i used to put ds2 in the big pram in the hallway when he was little, not that he ever slept much

ds3 has nearly always slept upstairs in his cot, because otherwise ds2 kept waking him up, climbing to try and get to him/generally beinga nuisance!

Dd2 used to sleep in the P+T carry bag thing that slides into the back of the pushchair (is that the cocoon?) - she was born in May and it was hot, I don't remember her being too hot in there - I put a moses basket matress in the bottom, and she just had that and a blanket. When she was very little I used to put it on the table next to me, or sometimes in a playpen in the corner (dd1 was only 14 motnhs and would probably have tried to crawl in!)
