Anyone got a Moffii Miyo baby hammock?

Am panicking already about DC2's night-wakings and it's not due until July! So was thinking of spending my healthy pregnancy grant on one of these - sleep is a major health issue, right?

But I wanted to hear some real recommendations - anyone got one? Would you recommend it?

Thanks.

I did the very same thing and spent my grant on one of those lovely hammocks! They are amazing and my DS began regularly sleeping through from 3 weeks. There are only a few downsides 1: they are a bugger to get the babies in, I resorted to holding the top bar with my teeth (nice!) so I could use both hands to hold bubba, although they recommend using one hand to hold the bar and one to hold the baby but I couldn't master that! The other disadvantage was a size issue, my DS is on 91st percentile for height, and he outgrew it by 4 months, not the seven it said, and sadly now he's in a cot he never sleeps through and wakes at least one or two times. Still it was priceless for the early sleep it ensured us all, as soon as I heard a peep out of him I would lazily bat the cot with one arm from bed and on most occasions he'd fall back asleep with no need for a feed. Although I think that might have made the subsequent regular night wakings we have these days even harder to face!

Hi we had an Amby hammock, not as beautiful but quite fabulous and am thoroughly intending to use it for DC2, due in May! On top of all the usual wonderful hammock type things is the fact that it takes about 30 secs to take apart so it meant we didn't need a travel cot either. brilliant! Highly recommended.

oops, sorry, this is website Amby DD who was on the 98th percentile for weight was in it for a year!

BettyButterknife · 27/01/2010 11:52

Thanks for your replies, my DS was only 25th centile for height and me and his dad aren't exactly tall. So hopefully we'll get a bit more than 4 months' use out of it.

Will also investigate the Amby, thanks Oranges.

Can I ask why each of you chose those particular brands? I'm not sure of the differences.

I chose the Moffi because I thought it looked gorgeous. And it really does!

bbk sorry for the delay... I've been away.
We are selling our Miyo... We have the frame, the hammock, the travel adaptor and the bedlinen that came with it. Where are you based?

jeallybellybean · 24/03/2010 09:29

Has anyone got a Miyo baby hammock or the stand? I am really insterested in buying the stand. I would be grateful if anyone could let me know.

Many thanks

raindroprhyme · 24/03/2010 10:28

I bought a miyo hammock with my health in pregnacy grant. It is beautiful and hangs at the end of my bed from the ceiling.
My DS 7weeks has never slept in his he hates it. Just a word of warning.

I wish i could fit in it, it looks so cosy.

If size is an issue there are Happy hammocks which are huge, compared to the Amby and Miyo.

UnrequitedSkink · 23/04/2010 07:51

Raindroprhyme - would you be willing to sell your Moffii hammock? Or anyone else? They're out of stock in the UK til July and I'm getting a bit desperate!! Thanks

raindroprhyme · 23/04/2010 16:23

yes i would, i have the ceiling fittings still waiting for the travel adaptor imagine it will arrive in july then.
send me a message on anna 82 at tesco dot net

UnrequitedSkink · 23/04/2010 20:12

Brilliant! Will do now

bippyhippy · 23/04/2010 22:34

I recently read that hammocks aren't safe. The Amby ones are being recalled in the US because of a high number of baby deaths.

Just what I read though.

UnrequitedSkink · 23/04/2010 22:48

The problem (and it's a very rare one) seems to be restricted to the Amby from what I've read Bippy - the Amby has a flat bottom, whereas the Miyo curves with the baby, so the same thing shouldn't be able to happen...

Lionstar · 23/04/2010 22:55

I don't think there were a high number of deaths bippy, just a couple. And from what I recall they were due to incorrect use of the hammock. Not to trivialise any child death of course.

Poppet45 · 24/04/2010 11:50

The high number of deaths was two. Still far too many, but not a high number.
