help needed to break early morning habit - 2.8 yo wakes for milk

Any thoughts or tips would be gratefully received please - ds is 2.8, goes to bed easily, sleeps well but wakes at 5 / 5.30 every morning for milk. Has nappy change and comes into bed with me and we go back to sleep until 7ish (after a fair bit of chat and getting comfortable on his part that is)

Now I know this isn't bad in the scheme of things but I just long for properly unbroken sleep. when staying with GPs (and me not there) he often sleeps through until 7am!

I guess it might be that he wakes up for the cuddles, but wondering if there is anything I can give him to eat nearer bedtime that might fill him up - he's desperate for the milk when he wakes and drains a big cup in no time.
