My 26 month old is a very good sleeper and always has been, however in the last couple of weeks he started playing a game of 'hiding' under his duvet when we went into him in the morning. He obviously decided that he likes it under there and now he constantly scooches down under his covers. The problem with this is that he then falls asleep under there, overheats, sweats until he is wet through and then wakes up upset about the state he is in. We have tried various methods to stop this from happening, such as removing his duvet and putting him back into a Grobag but he refused point blank to do this. We have also tried him in different types of clothing to keep him cooler and we have just adjusted his covers further down the bed in the feet to foot position to minimise the amount of duvet he can wriggle under but that hasn't made a difference at all! Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any advice or tips and tricks would be gratefully received as checking on him hourly and the changes of bedding/nightwear we are going through every night is starting to get draining.

Have you tried a very light summer duvet? Or a cotton cellular blanket (might not feel the same to him though)

Does he scoot down in the middle of the night or soon after/before he falls asleep - ie could you check on him when you go to bed and move the duvet?

Thanks for the reply. Yes we are currently using a summer duvet and are now just putting him in a short sleeved T-shirt and nappy (after all he is far from cold!), we have been pulling him back up once he is asleep but then he soon wriggles back down...I'm certain he's asleep throughout it and he does it Subconsciously. Maybe there is nothing more we can do, just hope he gets bored of it soon!

what about putting him in warm pyjamas, let him fall asleep and then remove the duvet right to the end of the bed when you go to bed? That way he wont get cold and he cant wriggle under the duvet?

My 4 year old still does circuits of the bed all night, in her sleep, Idarent take the bed guard off even though her friends dont have one anymore.

good luck
