I can sympathise, my dd is now 7 months and has slept thro for the last 2 nights . At one stage I thought she never would and all other babes we know seemed to be. There wasn't a particular secret to our success we just kept going and once she was well weaned onto solids then I cut down the night feed until she lost interest and naturally cut it out. Also now from about 4 am on she cries out intermittently and whereas I would previously have gone in to her (that would rouse her up even more)I now leave her and she doesn't wake properly until 6ish. I'm sure it will get better for you.

25 weeks, i.e 6 months? It's common for them not to sleep through by this age I'm afraid...

My dd did start sleeping through from around this age. My ds was about 9 months when he reliably started sleeping through.

For other parents their babies can be older (or younger if lucky)

CheekyGirl · 30/06/2005 13:21

Oh hun, I sympathise from the heart !!!

My ds is 6 months and a TERRIBLE sleeper. He wakes thruout the night for feeds, cuddles, crying......

I don't think he's slept more than 2 hours at any one time, EVER!!!!

I would love to know how to get him to settle. It's not the feeds that bother me, it's the fact that he never settles between them!!

toria77 · 30/06/2005 18:26

oh well, good to know im not alone i will keep going- he woke a lot last night..... maybe one morning i will wake up from a full nights sleep .. i wish

my daughter is 26 weeks old today and has just started sleeping through for about 12 hours - for the past 5 days or so
what a difference!
before this it had been 2/3 times each night after 'going to bed' at 7:30 and up for the day at about 6
hope you get more sleep soon!

Twiglett · 30/06/2005 18:40

Hi Toria

DD started sleeping through at around 10 months (6pm to 7.30) I think something just clicks ... that said DS started at 5 months so depends on the child

How's DH??

spidermama · 30/06/2005 19:01

I'm on my 4th baby and none of them has slept through before 10 months at the earliest. It depends how badly you want it.

Hayls · 30/06/2005 19:40

my dd didn't sleep through till almost 12 months

cupcakes · 30/06/2005 19:55

My ds only slept through at 14 months after some awful sleep training. Never again.
(Dd slept through like a dream from 8 weeks - I'm not saying this to gloat only to say that one baby differs so much from another!!)

sallystrawberry- my dd1 is nearly 4 and I don't think she has ever slept for 12 hours in a row!! just pleased that dd2 is !

Slave2Babe · 30/06/2005 21:28

dd is 8 months and hasn't ever slept thru!

I'm still feeding at 2am and 4am. Then she wakes at 6am, wide awake and ready to play !

I did try giving her water at night rather than milk - but this made things worse as she really is hungry!

ds2 7 month wakes up two times at night. Ds1 was much better as from 3 months he only used to wake up early morning for feed. Hanna what different have you done with your daughter that she has started sleeping through?

toria77 · 02/07/2005 08:14

I'm glad I read this thread before reading the latest edition of Practical Parenting. There is an article where mums out and about were stopped and asked when their baby started sleeping through. About 10 mums were interviewed, and apart from one baby who slept through at 7 mths, the rest were all under 3mths. I felt so hacked off that this was presented as 'the norm' that I may well email the magazine to complain!!

milward · 02/07/2005 22:00

Mine never slept much - upset me as well to hear about all the parents who have kids that sleep from 7pm to 7am!! plus having wake up kids to feed them. I just had to accept mine were like that and not try to conform to others. Best wishes

Hi Toria77. It's certainly not lack of excersise that stops DS from sleeping - boy can that baby bounce!! You cope so well on lack of sleep and even make time for homemade pasta bake!!

toria77 · 03/07/2005 08:09
