Any sleepy gurus out there?

DS2 has always been a shocking sleeper. He is now fast approaching his 1st birthday and in recent weeks his sleep has become even worse than normal. I am at the end of my tether especially as DS1 who has always slept brilliantly is now waking at night also. I think with nightmares but it takes him a couple of hours to get back off.

We tried CC crying with DS2 at around 6months and it worked fine 2 nights of grizzling and then sleeping through no longer feeding in the night. He has been on and off ill with colds for what seems like an eternity and am not sure if this is the problem he doesnt appear to be cutting teeth, dont think he is too hot or cold. He eats like a horse during the day but will always guzzle milk if offered during the night. Last night he woke at 11, 12.30 then up from 3 until 5.30 when DS1 woke.

Anyone out there who can offer me a magic solution or just pat my back and tell me that its ok to use an entire tube of touche eclat every couple of wks and that they will suddenly start sleeping.

I am in no way a sleep guru but I had a similar problem with DS1. We did controlled crying around six months which worked after two nights. Then when he got to around 18 months after several bouts if illness we reverted to weeks of getting up several times a night. I was a complete zombie..

I'm afraid the only solution if you're not controlled crying adverse is to do it again. It's tough and IMO it's even tougher when they're older. But it works and it means you can stop spending so much money on concealer!

I can't help you, I'm sorry

and I do not condone CC AT ALL

but I may be able to make you feel better abouthaving an older baby sleeping badly

at least you dont have a 2.10 gecko ho wakes evry two to three hours every night

hope you get it sorted

Thanks both of you.

I know am loathe to do CC again but feel it may be our only option.

Wowzers 2.10 and waking 2hourly how are you still coherant.

jam oh you poor thing! it is really hard when this happens. if you want to sleep you need to teach him that he wont get anything by waking up at those times! so CC is the only thing. try it gently. a couple of minutes and then go pat him etc.

in the long run, the whole family will be happier when everyone sleeps well. good luck
