Hi,

Please can anyone help. My daughter (20 months) had been sleeping very well until about a month ago and has started to wake up once a night shouting mummy and daddy and wanting some milk. She gets very upset very quickly, so we give her a small amount of milk and then she goes off to sleep and we put her back. This is getting so wearing and I don't know what to do, can't do controlled crying as she gets beside herself. please help me !!!

Lise72 - What about putting a drink next to her bed?

I would say you have to stop giving her milk as you are creating a habit you will only have to break later. Are you sure she is getting enough milk just before bedtime? If so, she doesn't need milk at night. perhaps you could just try going in and reassuring her and then leaving her to see if she settles. We do this when ds3 (28 months) occasionally wakes up and because we have alwasy done that, he doesn't expect anything more.
