30 degrees - what would you sleep your baby in ??

Its currently 30 degrees in dd's bedroom - she is 4 months old and I am paranoid about her overheating. What would put her to sleep in ? We have 1 tog sleeping bag but according to Grobag website should only be used up to 24 degrees. Am thinking just her vest and checking when we go to bed.

At 30 degrees, I'd just put my DS2 in his nappy. He's a warm baby, though.

have you got a fan you can out in her bedroom (not facing her though)just to keep the room a bit cooler.

Are you in the SE? Overnight low is forecast at 15, but if she's likely to wake up for a feed before early morning that's probably not a problem - just her vest should be fine (or a very thin cotton sleepsuit if she has one?)

DD;s bedroom has often been very hot, despite fans, windows open, etc. When tiny I would just put her in her 1 tog grobag with just a nappy on. The following year I also bought a high summer (0.5 tog) one.

I did try just nappy and vest, but DD prefered to have her bag on too.

Great !thanks guys - I have instructed dh to steal a fan from his office... Am in London Janh and had also heard the temp was going to drop over night - grrr - She doesn't wake in the night for a feed but guess if she gets cold she will wake up so we can then put her in her sleeping bag. Will try just a vest and see if she goes off like that - otherwise will do nappy and grobag (and probably lie awake worrying till it cools down !!)

Have ordered a 0.5 tog bag today so don't expect the good weather to last !

My 3 mth old was just in a nappy but managed to wriggle and trap his leg in the bars of his cot

He is now in the 0.5 grobag that I bought yesterday on a whim. Possibly a bit warm but should keep his limbs intact

How did you get on hazellnut? I put my 4 month DS in a loose cotton sleepsuit with the window open but on the security nightlatch thingymmy (?) He slept better than ever, maybe i have been wrapping him up too much????? You can't win

Well... I put dd in just her vest (+ nappy !) and she went straight off to sleep no problem. She slept fine until 3 am when the temp had gone down to 26 so I put her in her sleeping bag, gave her a drink and she went back to sleep only to wake up again at 5 and then sge wanted to play and only dozed till about 8 so we had to keep getting up to her but hten I did manage to get her back to sleep until about 9.30. She usually sleeps 11-12 hours straight through so not quite sure what happened - I reckon she woke at 3 and thought that must be her normal getting up time !!

Anyway, is cooler today I think - quite a breeze so fingers crossed it won't be so hot tonight !

Somebody suggested this long time ago and I have found it works great to lower the temp of the rooms during summer.

In the morning open all the windows of the house, then as soon as the sun rays start hitting the wondows of the room, close the window and lower the blinds (Ihave blackout blind BTW). The room stays fresh for the rest of the day. HTH
