My DS is nearly 6 months and has always napped a lot... He has around 4 naps a day and is usually only awake for a maximum of 3 hours before showing signs of tiredness again. he will often only have little catnap but sometimes sleeps for up to an hour at a time.

I am not overly concerned as he is developing in leaps and bounds and seems happy and healthy... only mentioning this as my friend seeemed to think it was unusual to sleep so much at his age.

shold i be worried? or should i enjjoy the peace and quiet when he's napping?

If he is developing normally I wouldn't worry.

Glad i don't need to worry. Only problem is not having an excuse for not doing any housework whilst he's asleep...

Babber - my nearly 6 month old is exactly the same. If we are out and about she can be awake a lot longer, but if we are at home she is only awake 2-3 hours at a time. Then naps for between 30 mins and 1 1/2 hrs.

My 3 have all napped every 2-3 hours till they were over a year.

DD2 is currently 14mo and she wakes up at 7am, goes back to sleep around 9.30am-11am,
then has another nap from about 2pm-4pm. She is ready for bed at around 6.30/7pm.

My 3 and 4yo have just stopped having an afternoon nap, although the 3yo really could do with one and will often fall asleep on sofa/in car at some point.

At 6mo it is absolutely fine- long may it continue!
