Does it matter how long we use Gro-bags for?

DS is 19 months old and a real wriggler in his sleep. He's starting to get too long for his 6-18 month gro-bags, and ideally, I'd like to invest in a quilt for him, before we move him to a bed in a few months time.

But, I just don't think a loose blanket / quilt will work yet, given he wriggles so much. Is it worth me trying, or should I spend out on getting some bigger gro-bags do you think (what I am tempted to do, but I know I need to wean him off gro-bags at some point ).

Mine weaned herself out of them at around 2, as she would takethem off, even if I put it on inside out-back to front!

crikey divvy, that's ingenious of your daughter! i am tempted to get some of the next size up really as it would be the easier (but more expensive!) option. but then i think, if we get him used to a quilt now, then it will just be transition to a bed, i.e. more gradual. hmmm

but its getting summer now, so maybe a cover would do?

You're right. I am going to try with his daytime naps first.
Once he's sorted with those, I'll put an extra layer clothes wise on him at night and a blanket.
We'll see how we get on.

Our DD moved into a bed when she was 2 and 3 months - she had always been in grobags until then. First week in bed I left her in them only because I hadn't got round to buying the bedding we needed. But when we got duvet etc - she absolutely loves them. Still wriggles out of them and ends up back to front, upside down etc - but generally even when it was really cold in the winter never been a problem. I always go and tuck her in when I go to bed and seems to be fine.

Another friend whose daughter is nearly 3 still uses them, as it stops her itching her eezcema - and she's in a bed - so no need to sstop using them if and when you move him to a bed if you don't want to.

If you are worried about spending loads - you could always look on ebay or go to a nearly new sale, there are usually loads up for grabs. Even if you want new - worth looking on ebay - I got some on there called Slumbersacs which were a lot cheaper. They also do a 12-36 months size I think so they last for ages even for a big toddler.

TKMAXX often has them for lower prices - worth a look if you do want a bigger one.

Tchibo have them occasionally, in large sizes, but DD3 unzips hers now (she's 17 mths) unless we put her down asleep in it, in which case she doesn't unzip it till morning!!
