DS sits up as soon as he is half awake and then gets stuck! Any ideas?

DS is 7.5 months old and has just (10 days ago) learnt how to sit up from being on his front. At night we put him to bed on his back (sometimes semi or full swaddled, depending on how easy he has been to put down). He has a gro bag as well. Ever since he learnt to sit up from his tummy, as soon as he stirs ( so can be every hour or so) he flips onto his front and then sits up. He does this half asleep and then gets stuck because he cant get back again, and ends up a sorry crying bundle at the bottom of the cot, wakes up v quickly and then is a pain to get back to sleep. He also sometimes does this when we try to put him down to sleep, even though he is very tired. Any tips/ideas? Or does it just stop, and if so how soon?

Hi
My 11 month old has started doing something similar- he pulls himself up to standing and then is stuck!
I'm really sorry but I'm all out of ideas too. Hope someone cleverer than me replies...
I do know that it's very common for babies to practise new skills at night if it's any consolation
xx

You wait til he starts crawling in his sleep...

It just stops. Eventually. And I don't think there's anything you can do, except teach them how to lie down from sitting/standing during the day. 'Tis a big pain in the neck while it lasts.

My DS is just like this. He's now almost 10 months and although he is able to lie down he just doesn't seem to want to. Whenever he wakes up in the night he can be found sitting at the end of the cot sobbing. He's also been a nightmare to get to sleep because if you put him in the cot anything but totally asleep he just rolls over and sits up.
We've been working hard to get him to self settle and it's slowly starting to work but I've got serious back problems from hours spent leaning over the cot patting with one hand and trying to stop him rolling with the other.
He's getting used to staying laid down (usually on his side) and has just started to wake up, roll over and go back to sleep during the night Last night he only woke 4 times rather than the usual 6 or so!

Pipnik that sounds so familiar! And nice to know it is 'just a phase'. Will work on the lying down practise during the day!

Dd grew out of each stage fairly quickly. (Though I do recall lying next to her, with one leg over her legs pinning her down... )

Ds (10 mths) on the other hand, has been crawling, etc for ages and like Pipnik's lo, still just won't/can't lie still unless practically asleep! He is SO active and tbh no idea how to get him to even begin to lie down and self-settle (is sort of ok once asleep for the night though).
