If you had to rock your baby to sleep...

When did you stop needing to do it?!

DD2 is 10 months. Was BF until 8.5 months and fed to sleep. She is now FF and needs to be rocked to sleep. She's not too bad - it can only take 5 minutes but she's very long (95th centile), pretty heavy and VERY strong and wriggly; I find it a bit awkward to rock her. OH doesn't struggle as much (he's a lot taller than me and can "pin her down" a bit better).

Soon we're going to be in the position where DD1 and DD2 have to share a room and I'm going to be on bedtime duty every weeknight and I'm not sure my arm muscles can cope. DD1 has a dummy and has drifted off to sleep on own accord easily since she was about 7 months old so am at a bit of a loss!

She sounds like my dd although I started laying her down when drowsy when she was around eight or nine months old. She soon got into the habit of it and we can now just out her to bed at half six and she just gives us a kiss and lies waiting to drop off! (she's 17mo now).

I would keep doing what works and is easy until "soon" becomes "now."

i could have written your post (except ds still bf - but often wants to be rocked)! Ds just won't stay still at all... Am trying to take every opportunity - maybe read stories lying down?

Anyway, I'm with you. I don't know what the answer is
