I used to use the hoover for ds and dd.
Do they have CD's now?

SalBySea · 06/05/2009 23:22

yes there are various different ones on amazon, our pharmacist recommended we get one but dont know which to go for

apparently you dont have to play them very loud for them to work.

We live in a flat so hoover or hair dryer not an option at midnight!

We used this for our Ds.
this
It worked wonders in the first few horrendous sleepless weeks
Didn't rely on it, just used it long enough for us to find better ways of settling him.
Would certainly recommend it though for the short term.

We used the sleep sheep. There are 2 listed and we got the cheaper one. We used it pretty consistently for about 4 months and then went cold turkey to get him unused to it. He was extremely colicky until almost 7 months. It's got a good volume control and you have 2 time options too. www.safetots.co.uk/842.htm

I like that sleep sheep!

With DS we used a radio tuned out so it was just the static noise. Didn't have it too loud, so we could sleep through it too! Think we did it for about 3 months.

Not directly related to your question but have you tried swaddling for an unsettled baby? That really helped with DS (although not all babies like it - DD hated it and wriggled out!)

We just put the radio on a fuzzy station -that works for our DS. He's not colicy but it has extended his naps from 45-60 mins to 2 hours+. HTH

I used this and it did work..

Free white noise

Someone gave us a DVD called The Happiest Baby on the Block, which we were really embarrassed about at first because of the ridculous title and because it has celebrity endorsements on the back, but it was brilliant - loads of useful tips for calming colicky babies and it also comes with 'womb noises' that you can play to get them off to sleep. We found it really helpful.

If you go to www.babysleepnoise.com you can choose a number of different sounds and they're all free! We picked vacuum as is DS's favourite but you can also get hairdryer, shower, car engine, pink noise, white noise, etc etc! DS is now nearly 5 mo and doesn't use it at night any more but does for his daytime naps and it's been a lifesaver!
