surely this is bad for him!!!

hard and big..took ages ot pry away from underneath him

but no way i can take them away - he has two - away from him..never would fall asleep

no wonder he seems to have tummy aches a lot

any suggestions? your do this? soft car? where the hell would i find one?

At that age DS would sleep with a truly random selection of household objects. Now he's four and it's generally just a random book and his favourite toy of the moment (recently his sonic screwdriver).

gigglewitch · 05/05/2009 00:41

lol
yes my ds2 (5.6) still does it. Have just counted (but not removed) :-
five small toy cars
four tiggers
two stones
half a dozen (approx) sticks
one smelly trainer
four cushions (none his own)
a pair of pink trousers (his sisters)
one outgrown jumper he won't part with.

This is all an improvement on the three live frogs in a toilet roll holder a few weeks ago.

Bubble wrap everything!

DS goes to bed with all manner of tat scattered around him - definately a boy thing!

gigglewitch · 05/05/2009 00:43

bubble-wrapping the child would be easier

I have 2 boys they are 4 and 2 years.

My 2 year old like a completley clear bed to sleep its a dream to change as he only has one teddy in it and thats it apart from bedding.

My 4 year old however is a different story, changing his bed is a nightmare! He has about 10-15 teddys, cars, hundreds of books and bits and peices he has found and stashed in his bed.

He sleepsa on the top bunk so i think he stock piles incase he gets bored and can't be bothered to get down which is funny becuase he is the sort of person who is snoring as soon as his head touches the pillow at night!

bumbly · 05/05/2009 15:07

this morning - huge red marks on his willy from big car stashed and pressed under his belly all night!!!

My dd slept with a Dora the Explorer basketball last night.

Sunshinemummy · 05/05/2009 15:11

Cars and Power Rangers at the moment for my DS. The Power Rangers make a roaring noise too but he won't go to bed without them!

TracyK · 05/05/2009 15:11

ds is the same - diferent favourite object every night.

He does go through stages of putting cushions/tshirts etc up his pj top a la pregnancy - no idea why. I just laugh when I have to remove stuff as I go to bed.

stealthsquiggle · 05/05/2009 15:14

I know a little girl who insists on sleeping with a selection of toy cars.

My DC both just sleep in/on a pile of soft toys - DS(6) more so than DD(2).

If he's a good sleeper I would continue to confiscate stuff once he is well asleep IIWY - I 'rescue' DS from his pile now and again but leave DD as there is a 90%+ chance she would wake up.

Lizzzombie · 05/05/2009 15:16

Dumper trucks & fire engines are regularly taken to bed here. The only problem I have with them is that if he rolls over onto one which has buttons to make a noise it can set off the siren - which at 3am is never nice to hear! I normally just remove them from his toddler grasp once he is asleep.

OrmIrian · 05/05/2009 15:17

Yes sometimes. Although he's not that keen on cars. But yes to plastic animals and teddies, books, lego models DS#1 built for him incl a Halo gun, his easter bonnet that he made for school (complete with real dying flowers). Most of which would be really uncomfortable to me, but don't bother him at all.

Starbear · 05/05/2009 15:21

bumbly LOL. Mine stuffs his soft toys down under the quilt! He used to sleep with cars. Just took them out when he was a asleep. Sleeps with an ugly bear cushion from canada, minty bear, snowy, bluey, rabbit,TEDDY, gorilla, fluffy dog& reindeer

bumbly · 05/05/2009 15:24

yes think night visits in order

however - he dioes reach and try to grab them back in a sort of semi awake sleepy state as soon as i move them!!!

DS, 17 months, has recently started to take his toy VW camper van to bed with him. He loves that toy and usually carries it around with him. He likes having things in his hands to fiddle with when he's going to sleep.

Shitemum · 05/05/2009 15:58

My sister used to sleep with a large rock in her bed. We called it the bedrock.

YeahBut · 05/05/2009 16:01

It's like the hotwheels and lego aisle of toys r us in ds's bed at night. I keep thinking it must hurt when he rolls over but he seems OK.

footballsgalore · 05/05/2009 21:32

Lol at bedrock

And I always thought DS1's football was a strange thing to take to bed....Now I know better!!

bumbly · 05/05/2009 21:51

real giggles reading thisd thread

just hope tongiht he doesnt hurt his little balls and willy again!
