We've only just got DD sleeping with no more than 1 wake up and she is 8 months. The thing that really worked for us was being consistent not just on the good-night routine but on every time she woke in the night.

We went from waking 2-3 times in the night sometimes for an hour or more to sleeping through or only one wake up and DD self-settling after her feed.

It also helped that we agreed in advance on what we would do and who would do what, this meant no more 3am arguments and so it was easier on all of us.

Now I just have to get naps sorted.

good luck

It's pretty normal for 6mo old babies to still be waking several times a night I'm afraid and I'm not sure that there is anything you can do to make it happen before the baby is ready.

My 6mo old wakes anything from once to four or five times in a night with no discernible pattern to it and has done a couple of longer stretches and one night where he slept from 8 till 6.30. He also cat naps in the day, but I have noticed on the days where he has a longer daytime sleep he tends to have a more settled night, waking fewer times. Maybe crack the daytime sleeps and the night will follow?

I wish I had some real answers, but afaik, some babies just don't sleep through and from my own experience with both my older two, some do from an early age.

Hi, my 6 month old has only gone through the night about 4 times so far!

He has just moved out of our room into sharing with his brother. He has slept much better since then, possibly because I am less likely to hear when he wakes up!

He has woken consistently about 3am and in our room I would feed him then, but now I am heartless mummy and just stick the dummy back in then go back to bed. Amazingly, he is fine with this and settles really easily!

I wonder if he may be waking because he's still in your room (assuming he is, of course!) Our first moved into his room at 3 1/2 months on the advice of the hv as he had stopped sleeping well at all. He immediately started sleeping through the night on his own?!? Might be worth a try!

My dd doesn't sleep through and she's 6 months. Agree with lackadaisycal about daytime naps. When I take dd out for a long walk at nap time to ensure she sleeps she always has a better night.

thanks every one,i have just changed her routine a bit i now let her have a nap at 5.30 till 6 pm then wake her ,my friend also told me to try her without her 10.30 pm bottle so now i put her to bed at 8 pm and she so far is doing a lot better she might wake once or twice but i put her dummy back in and she goes back to sleep until the alarm goes off at 6.30 hope she keeps this up
