23 month old just fell asleep in her big bed for the first time..........

....it was unplanned , she is staring to show her assertiveness(ok she was about to have a tantrum) and wouldn't settle in her cot, so I said she could sleep in the big girls bed, she's fell asleep on top of the duvet and pillow, and without her sensor monitor! (didn't think I was nurotic until now) I have been unable to relax since. Do you think I should move her or see how it goes?

Why do you use a sensor monitor? If its for your peace of mind, then I'd say leave her.
If she needs it for whatever reason, then move her.

She doesn't need it, I have had it since she was a baby, just got used to seeing the little light flashing in the night if I woke up in the night (will mean I will probably check her 100 times)She has a bed rail she should be okay. I suppose I am just nervous like when she moved into her own room. Loving your name by the way

I would just pull the duvet over her and let her sleep. If you are planning on leaving her in the bed, could you move the sensor so it gives you peace of mind? (for tomorrow, I mean)

Yes, I think that's what I'll do, was going to have to move her to the bed sooner or later, due baby #2 in 4 weeks (bought new sensor monitor for this one! paranoid or what)

It will probably be easier, as it's her choice to move iyswim.

Tomorrow you could make a bit of a fuss over how she's a big girl now, maybe buy her a new teddy for her big girl bed.

she woke twice in the night and just needed a cuddle, let me put her back in the bed. I made such a fuss that she was a clever, big girl. Hopefully tonight will go a smoothly

Thats great news Katie, bet you were worrying about the transition with no need eh?

She's back in the cot, terrible tantrums the last two nights.last night for two hours at 2am! Maybe it's still to soon, will try again though.

Since you've not got much time to make the transition (and don't want her to feel "thrown out of her cot" by her new sibling) here's what I do about tantrums in bed...

• if he's angry, usually doing/saying anything makes it worse so I say "do you want me to leave?" and if the behaviour doesn't improve, I go.
• there's a difference between an angry cry and an upset cry. There's less crying overall if you leave 'em to the angry crying on their own, going back every minute or two to say "are you done now?" or "are you ready for a cuddle now?" (because they do get stuck in the crying cycle).

What set her off in the middle of the night? Do you think she had a bad dream or is getting her 2yr molars?

She has had a bout of constipation, which is probably what's been wrong. She's obviously not ready for the bed yet either and has been happy in the cot again. I will try again soon though. The new baby will be in our room for about 6 months, so not too stressed about moving her into the bed.
