I keep waiting for my ds to spend a little more time awake, but so far he can manage about 5 mins of grizzling, a nappy change, a breastfeed (feeds for about 20 mins average), a quick winding, then he's off to sleep again! Just wondered if i should be 'amusing' him to keep him awake a bit longer, or just let him get on with it? (Though, TBH, no idea how to amuse a 5wk old!!)
Don't get me wrong, am enjoying it all, & v chuffed that he sleeps well between feeds, but i know he needs to learn difference btwn day & night soonish. I keep it relatively noisy in the day, then 7pm he has bath, book (with his big sister) & bf in the dark & quiet before i put him down. He wakes every 2.5/3 hrs thru the night for a feed, which is fine.
I realise i should know all this, having already been thru it with DD, but she was a colicky, restless baby who was always a rubbish sleeper, & i spent most of our days outside for my sanity, so we had no structure. Am not looking for a routine, just to know am doing the right thing, & to stop feeling guilty for just sitting on my bum watching him sleep!
Any advice????
