Hi Everyone - First post here so at last an opportunity to thank everyone for keeping me going over the last 20 months!

My DD, now 20 months, has always been a pretty rubbish sleeper but over the past few months (mostly since all those pesky teeth have arrived) she'd been much better at sleeping through. She does have this habit of starting to cry out loud though and she does it several times a night from 1.30am through until about 6am. I don't think she wakes up properly and she doesn't need us to go in to her, but just sounds like she's about to burst into tears.... and then goes quiet again. Does anyone else have little ones that do this? Do they grow out of it?

my 2.6 year old often does this
it seems to be when she rolls over and bumps herslef but then she goes straight back to sleep

I have a 19 month DD and up until the last 3-4 weeks, would go to bed at 7pm and sleep soundly til 7am (unless teething/ ill). Recently, she's started crying out anytime between 2 and 4am for about 10 seconds or so, and then it all goes quiet again for a few minutes before she starts again. This can go on for anything up to 2 hours, regardless of whether I go in or leave her. Last night I went in and she was already snoring again, so don't think she's really waking up properly every time, but needless to say my DH and I are knackered! Am also wondering if this is a phase/ is she dreaming. Help!

Hi Dippy. Our DDs sound like they're doing the same thing! I can only think that it must be some kind of dream. My DD wriggles around in bed an awful lot but doesn't seem to wake or cry out because of that. It's almost like she's having bad dream or something. I have to say though, DD was much quieter last night, apart from waking up at 4.30 and singing along with the dawn chorus that we had in the tree outside her window! Thankfully she dropped off by herself again. I'm also hoping it's just a phase as I need some sleep too!

Let's hope it is just a phase! My DD also slept better last night, so fingers crossed. She has also always been a wriggler and often hear her crashing against her cot bars when she turns over and that doesn't seem to bother her. Good luck!
