DS is 2 (just) and is a very poor sleeper - he just likes being next to me!

So, as it is working for SuWoo, I have been and bought a luxury airbed from Asda for £8.97 and then spent 10 minutes blowing it up with my own puff as it came with no punp!!!

So, the plan is .....

When he wakes (usually after midnight) I will go into his room, and settle him, and then settle myself down on the airbed, and we will all sleep happily!!

OK so it wont be that easy, and there will be tears (but who will cry the worst!!), but he needs to stay in his own bed all night and then ina few months he will be 'allowed' a big boys bed!

So, place your bets upon what time I give up and bring him into the main bed.......!!!

Well......

He woke at 12.10 and was settled easily, and I brought in my bed. He scowled, but went to sleep holding my hand.

He woke again around 2 and cried for his dad, and for a hug, but settled within 10 minutes and slept until 7am!!

Happy Days, even though I am knackered now!

Le us see what tonight brings!

Well this will be a'blog' to aid me when the dark days hit...

Last night - he slept until 2.30am in his own bed, I settled him in 10 minutes and slept in his room until 5.20am, when we decamped to my bed for an hour!!

Sounds like it's going marvellously.

I don't know if she'll ever be in her own bed.

neenztwinz · 04/03/2009 22:24

Well done! Be strong

andyrobo237 · 05/03/2009 12:51

Nearly wanst strong last night!!!

But got there in the end - he woke at 12 and 3.30 but settled in 5 mins with little fuss, and woke at 6.45 this morning as happy as a bunny!!

Getting there I think!

Well he slept until 5am this morning - in his own room and by himself in his own bed!!!

Took me ages to settle him agan - lots of tears, but I needed him to know that he had to go back to sleep for another hour or so, as he didnt know how early it was!

Hope for the same tonight!

Marlasinger - we have struggled with DS from an early age - he has been in our bed for over a year now! He starts in his own room, but wakes and cant self-settle. The 'Baby Steps' approach seems to be winning at the moment!

I know the feeling - I have had over 2 years of broken sleep - longer if you count the pregnancy lack of sleep!

Didnt have to sleep in his room last night at all!!!!

He woke at 10 and 3.30 and I settled him in 10 mins, and he then woke at 5.30 so put him in our bed for the hour - not sure if that is counter productive or not, but it is progress from a week ago when he was coming in at 12am!

Andyrobo - that is fantastic!

Now, you're closer than Suwoo, come to my house and sort dd out for me.

Suwoo hasn't shown up yet!

andyrobo237 · 10/03/2009 18:01

Last night was good - he woke twice - seems to be at the same times, and was easily settled, but I had to sleep on the airbed on the floor for 1.5 hours! wasnt too bad and he woke at 5.45am, so we snook into our bed for the last hour!

Opps DS helping! Mrs Joe - I will be available for sleep lessons once we have cracked it! It took for me to be getting fed up of it all, and the lack of constructive help from DH was a great motivation factor! But then he has never been the helpful type when it comes to bath / bed routine, and he works different hours every week, so I am used to doing it myself - it is kind of a pattern around her e- if you want anything doing, it is best to do it yourself!

I guess it is like a lot of things, you have to want to change the problem! You see, I quite liked DS being in the bed and needing me to help him sleep, but was getting fed up of sleeping on the edge of the bed with no covers!

Has SuWoo gone to ground, or is she busy cathcing up on her sleep!!

Just to update - he is consistently sleeping until 5.30am now, with one waking in the night - so is far better than two weeks ago. Now need to progress to getting himself to fall aslep in his room on his own at 7pm without me having to sit there for half an hour!
