after he has had a three 1/2 hour nap in afternoon and woken up at 5?????

DD always goes to sleep at 9. I don't see the problem. I presume you mean pm. She generally gets up at about 7 and doesn't have a nap.

My two boys went to bed at 9pm until DS1 started nursery aged 3. It was so they could see their dad in the evenings after work. I don't think it matters when they're very young as long as they have enough sleep.

The important thing is that they have enough sleep. As they don't have to get anywhere or do anything, it does not really matter when they have it. You may need to think about changing things when he starts school or nursery though.

I much prefer when ds goes to bed late because it means he wakes up later in the morning! I could not cope if he went down at 6-7 and woke at 6 - eek! We usually all get up about 8-9am but then DH and I both work from home so we really don't have far to go Obviously for people who have to leave for work early an earlier start is more suitable so I think it really depends on your own family - there are no rules!
