In the midst of sleep training our almost 1 year old. Using PUPD method. It is very hard, lots of crying. Starting to doubt it. Anyone have any experiences to share?

A friend tried it and found it made her DD worse cos she just got confused and frustrated. Have you tried gradual withdrawal? I can also recommend the No Cry Sleep Solution book.

Is gradual withdrawal when you edge closer to the door over a series of nights and then disappear? I have read NCSS but it was ages ago when I was truly sleep deprived so can't remember it. We have recently embarked on a massive change. We've moved DS from co-sleeping and bf through the night to a cot and we're now trying to get him comfortable with going to sleep without a prop. Hoping we can teach him to self settle and wake less during the night. PUPD seemed gentle but he is still crying between 5 and 60 mins with PUPD. We are only on day 4 so maybe I should see it through for a full week. Feel truly awful seeing him cry and don't want to damage the bond and trust we have between us.

Yes gradual withdrawal is where first you sit by the cot with them perhaps holding their hand, shushing, patting, talking or singing quietly and then you move further away gradually.
