I usually put ds in a grobag but decided to use a pillow and duvet as he is growing out of the grobag (plus a duvet seems more snuggly!) He loved it but managed to wiggle up the cot and woke up at 4am because the covers were off him and he got cold. I have put the pillow in the middle of the cot so that his feet are still at he bottom but this means that he wiggles up the cot. Can I put the pillow at the top end or is there a danger of him wiggling down and suffocating under the duvet? Hope this makes sense! Its just there is advice about babies being in the feet to feet position but didn't know if that applied to toddlers too....His bedtime is at 7pm so would appreciate some advice before then

I would leave him in a grobag for a bit longer, or is that not what you want to hear? DD was in a grobag until about 2.5

I've just bought DS2 (14mths) a new Grobag for christmas. 18-36 months size, because I plan to keep him in it after he moves to a bed. Much easier IME.

If you are stuck on duvet then that is fine, but I wouldn't bother with the pillow tbh, he's too young really.

He doesn't need to have feet at bottom - this advice is to stop babies getting trapped under sheets and blankets.

You could make sure he has extra warm pjs - those fleecy sleepsuits are great.

Thanks all! I have already bought the duvet so would prefer to use that than fork out on new grobags. I will put the pillow at the top tonight and see if that makes a difference, fingers crossed! He seemed to like the pillow and a few of my fiends babies have them already, I thought they could have them from 1 year?

He doesn't need to be feet-to-foot now he has full control of his movements. I've never used a grow-bag as was far too paranoid about overheating when he was little.
Can you use a fleece sleepsuit? You can get toweling vests too which may keep him warmer.
My ds always crawls out of his covers but he nver wakes up

My DD's got a pillow and duvet. I got it for her at 12mo as that's the age it said it was suitable for on the packaging (from Ikea). The pillow is pretty flat and I put it just a bit down from the top (if it's too close to the top she sort of wriggles up and bangs her head on the cot bars). I used the duvet a bit but have gone back to grobag because she often seemed to wriggle out of it and end up waking up cold.
