After a shakey start my 21 week old dd has slept wel, at least 6 hours straight a nighgt since 8/9 weeks. A couple of weeks ago we moved her to her cot, which meant a bit more waking but still sleeping well. However since Monday night she wont let me put her down, she'll fall asleep after a feed then however deeply asleep she appears to be she'll wake on being put down, this goes on repeatedly. She's tired and fractious, as am I. Please do you have any ideas?

Could she be teething? I'd say she's too little to be affected by the move to the cot. You can get some teething crystals (a powder) which I find helpful when my DD is unsettled.

It may be something though that changes very soon, since monday is enough days, I think, to conclude that something is wrong. I agree that she should be ok with the cot at this age (and she took to it well initially, you say). Perhaps she's a bit under the weather? or teething, as nigglewiggle says? Or just in a bad mood? I would think that in a few days she should be ok... (fingers crossed!) Good luck!

obviously I meant to say 'since monday is NOT enough days, I think, to conclude that something is wrong'

Is:

  • the cot mattress cold?
  • she about to start sitting up/crawling?
  • she teething?
  • she otherwise happy in her cot (e.g. if she's not asleep is she always crying in it or is she happy to play when she wakes in the morning?)
