He's my second child but i have totaly no idea what to do re early waking in a 2yr old - come a be sympathetic please.

DS2 is 2 and is still waking in the night/early morning usually about 4am and thats it, no amount of milk/comforting him ect will work, he wont even settle in our bed or me in his.
He will scream bloody murder untill i get up and go into the lounge with him so he can either watch cartoons or play with his toys.

I am so tired, i do ocassionally fall asleep in the lounge and wake up to either him ramming something in my face or dp waking me bevuase he has discovered us in the lounge and ds2 has trashed the room whilst i was asleep.

DS still has one nap a day sometimes he goes without one but i let him make the choice, if he is tired he will ask to go to bed, he still has a cup of milk at bedtime but i have just ditched the bottle after a long struggle so don't want to take the cup away just yet.

Any ideas? Please i am a woman on the edge here!

Anybody, somebody?

I really sympathise my DS was the same. We used to persevere until 6am and then bring him into our room so he could watch kids telly on the portable while we dozed. Eventually he learnt to go downstairs and watch the big telly without waking us (allegedly). He's now nearly 7, and is still downstairs at 6 most mornings sometimes earlier. We are in teh process of trying to get him to tell the time (or at least understanding what time means) as recently he has gone downstairs at 2.30 and at 10.30 (DH and I had only just gone to bed!) ready to start the day!!
I'm just praying for the teenage years to kick in when hopefully he will be overcome by hormones and I won't be able to prise him from his bed. Sorry not much help, but you are not alone.

definitely cut the nap out - it might take him a few days to readjust but that should help him sleep a bit later.

Also if he knows he can go downstairs at 4am and play it is worth his while waking up - so I would try and encourage him to stay in bed until morning - say anytime after 6am, but treat it like night time until then - low lights, def no playing.

Also, you could try putting your lo's light on a timer, telling him he can't get up until the light goes on. If you set it at his normal wake up time for the first few days and then a bit later every morning, he might start to sleep in a bit. HTH
