Hands up who's dreading the clocks going back?

Let's support each other through this!! How do you intend to persuade your little darlings to stay up an hour? No matter how long our DD naps during the day she is ALWAYS ready for her bed at 6pm... I dont know what we're gonna do!!

when do they go back? could you show your daughter when 6 is on the clock? it's not the staying up i am worried about per se, its the getting up at 7 (which will feel like 6 AM!)

This Sunday!! My daughter is 4 months old so not up on clocks yet You would think it would be easy to readjust a baby's bedtime but our LO is so routine its unbelievable!

How about doing it a little bit every day - like 15 mins later, then 30 mins later, etc... That might work?

It would only take 4 days to get back into routine and hopefully you could keep her up for 15 mins - just by having a longer bath or something like that?

Arrrrgh me!!!!!!! I am not looking forward to it at all! My ds is always ready for bed at 7 pm (6:30 really but we try to keep him up til 7 or else he wakes even earlier!) He is foul if we keep him up any longer and he still wakes at 5am

that's our plan spammy - Monday, we're going to move bedtime forward by 15 min, then another 15 on Wednesday, and on Friday, so we're back to "on time" for Sunday. At least that's the theory! Let's see how it goes in practice...

Ah this was just the thread I was looking for! The 15 mins sounds like a good idea, although my nearly 4 month DS has started falling asleep about 1/2 early over the last few days so I think I'd better get started tomorrow night!

Was just about to post on this as I am exhausted and dreading the clocks going back. DD1 who is 17 months has been waking between 5 and 6am for the past few weeks, I'm 37 weeks pregnant and it is getting very tiring. Desperately trying to get her to sleep in later but really worried about the next few weeks and the clock change. Will try the 15 mins thing, any other suggestions very welcome!

I managed to persuade 4 month old DS to have a half an hour lie in this morning so have been able to push all his naps and feeds back half an hour so far. Hoping that he can go down half an hour later tonight, then plan to try a further 15 minutes over the next two days. Fingers crossed!

My friends who have children who sleep well all said that on the morning when the clocks go bsck, try and keep them in their room until at least 6am even if you need to stay with them. get up and start the day as normal but try to fit another nap in so that they can stay awake until normal bedtime.

I am getting worried though as I can't bear the thought of getting up any earlier.

Ds2 (2) has is getting earlier and earlier anyway - before 5 the last couple of days. So I am dreading the clocks going back

Especially as last year he failed to adjust at all and spent 4 months waking at 4.30...

Well tonight's the night, are we all prepared for 4am wake up calls?

I am hoping that I can just keep ds up a bit later tonight but wouldn't you just know, this week that he has decided to drop his morning nap now so only has one nap a day, meaning he is foul by 6:30pm and well ready for bed. Keeping him up until 8 will be torturous tonight. It's either that or I wake up ridicullously early and at some point he's going to have to adjust to the new time anyway. Why can't we just stick to one time in this country?????

Good luck all - managed to keep DS asleep till 8 this morning, so hoping we can keep him up till 8 tonight and be on track for a normal days routine tomorrow.

Nope I'm not - as exH has the kids.......unfortunately he probably won't feel the effects as he usually keeps them up later as his anyhow lol

It doesn't really matter - DH & DD are leaving at 7am tomorrow anyway.........

So how has everyone done so far? We managed to stretch our DD out until 6.15pm (normal bedtime between 5.15pm and 6pm ) but she was very very tired despite napping from 4 - 4.45pm. She didn't manage much of her bedtime bottle because she was so zonk, which I'm worried may have defeated the object as she'll wake even earlier! Or maybe by adding in an extra nightime feed as a one off we'll get her to the new 7am... All this for a bunch of farmers!

Woohoo, we managed to keep ds up until 7:45. We purposefully went out til 6:30 so he was very distracted and not whinging for bed. Normally he's in his bath and getting ready for bed by then but he was very very happy and well behaved to say he must have been shattered.

He crashed out in his cot like he hadn't slept in a month though so hoping he wasn't so over tired that he wakes even earlier, babies are funny things...... we'll see how we get on. Hopefully he'll sleep for his usual 11 hours and wake up at a reasonable hour although he tends to be an early riser anyway.

Last night was great as I tried to put dd to bed at 6.30pm as she was so tired but she would not settle and did not fall asleep until about 7.20pm which I think helped for this morning.

She did not wake until 6.40am this morning hurrah!!! Unfortunately, I woke up at 5.30am and could not get back to sleep as I was waiting for her to wake up.

She went down for her morning nap at 9am, about 20 mins earlier than normal but I am happy I wasn't up at 5am. Hope it went ok for everyone else.

Well it turned out OK for me too. She woke up at 5am but I gave her an extra feed and she settle back down until 7.15am and has been napping since 9am... So hopefully all the stress was over nothing! Nothing new there then!

Went really well for me too. For some reason Joseph slept for 12 hours instead of his usual 11 so he got up later than he would have done anyway! He woke up and stood around 5:30 but then reached for his blanket and went straight off to sleep before I even had to get out of bed which was lovely.Looks like we are all survivors!
