DS has taken to waking up at 5am and just screaming, he used to wake up at 7am and play with his toys for a while. Now it is 5am and screaming the house down. I have tried giving him his milk at 5am but he still doesn't go back to sleep after that, i've tried booking books in his cot but he just drops them over the side and then screams more because he now can't reach them! I'm shattered and need more sleep so has anyone got any other suggestions I can try...

Sorry meant 'putting books into his cot' and also forgot to say he is 14 months

Is he getting enough sleep in the day?

Our 16 mo started doing that when ds1 arrived. She got over it then started again recently after a cold. We have been bringing her into bed with us- but it only has a limited effect. We have had theories about her being cold or hungry but haven't come up with an answer yet.

Good luck sorting it.

Found this thread about lots of babies with 5am waking being "cured" by rousing them at 4am briefly. I'm going to try it :
