can you put a six month old to sleep on his front?

Not sure about this one. Is it safe for a six month old to sleep at night on his front. He seems to sleep better that way other wise he just rolls all over the place and wants to suck all the time as he has a bedside cot.

Any ideas please help!

I thought it was ok for them to sleep on their front IF they roll on to their front themselves, that way they are able to roll back.

From 5 months my wee boy slept on his tummy but he got there himself. I never put him down that way. Tried turning him back a few times but he rolled straight back. I assumed at that point that he was capable of rolling back himself if he needed to.

He sleeps much better now!

I dont ever put my lo's to sleep on their front but they do end up there. The SIDS advice is to always place them on their back at the start of sleep but after 6 months it doesnt matter what position they then get themselves into.

my DD has always slept on her front, from a few days after coming home from hospital. she never settled on her back and looked plain uncomfortable

she is now 9 months, and can get into any position she wants and still never sleeps on her back

we weighed up the pros and cons and looked at risk factors for SIDS (we didn't have any), and for us the benefits outweighed the risks. i worried for a few nights, but soon enjoyed the extra sleep and am happy we did it so early on. i wouldn't hesitate to do it again

at 6 months, i would say just put them in whatever position it seems they prefer as they're mobile enough to move about if they're uncomfortable

Well, in this house, you could try it but it just seems to end up in a whole lot of "swimming" and not a lot of sleeping IYSWIM.

I wouldnt put my DD down on her front, if she rolled herself then fair enough
