when do babies drop their morning nap?

DS2 is 13 months and seems to be dropping it - he now screams if I try to put him down for it. He's just started waking later in the morning (after months of 5am starts!), now wakes about 6.30-7 . So he probably doesn't need his morning nap, BUT he's absolutely shattered by 10.30/11 and is a whingeing nightmare for the rest of the day (even if he has a good 2 hours in the afternoon). When did your dc drop his/her morning nap, and how did you do/cope? (I should know the answer as I have ds1, but I can't for the life of me remember!)
