Night weaning

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

My 9mo baby is a horrid sleeper and just feel at my wits. I have exclusively bf up until 4 days ago and we are now on 3 210 bottles of allergy formula a day. He doesn't always drink it all. He is also on 3 meals a day again is having ,2-4 spoonfuls each meal and some solid food like banana etc.

He's always struggled sleeping alone but recently I have been encouraging self settling in his cot using pupd. He will do the 3 hours so 7-10 and then he will wake up and it is impossible to get him back into the cot. We end up co sleeping but even just lying next to me he struggles. I'm trying to night wean I've got it down to 3 feeds but can't really get past that. Last night we were both up for over an hour until I eventually fed. Then from about 4-6 he will wake every half an hour I try everything to just keep him asleep.

In the day he has 2 or 3 naps. If 3 it'll be 3 short 45 mins one or 2 is 1.5 hours each. He's never awake more than 4hrs in the day. He has an older brother so routine varies with naps. Not much I can do about that.

Do we think it's too early to night wean? Shall I try a dream feed at 11 to see if that works? I'm just desperate to stop breastfeeding. We are also away for a day and night next Thursday so was hoping to stop before then.

Afternoon, OP. Just popping by to say we've moved your thread over to our 'Sleep' topic where we think you might get a few more replies.

I personally don't think you should night wean before 12 months, bottle or breast. Night weaning has zero guarantee it'll stop the wakes, that is only seen more at 18+ months
I think 7pm is far too early for bedtime when he has a lot of day sleep and particularly on 3 nap days. He's awake so often as he's not tired enough for the night, that shows particularly in the early hours, he's just done sleeping. I'd try at least 8pm, and try to limit to 2 naps of 1 hour each. . Average sleep needs are 11-14 hours in 24 hours at that age, so if he has 3 hours in the day, likely he'll only need 9-10 overnight, if that, no wonder he won't sleep past 4am!
