Two year old still waking twice nightly - when will he sleep through?!

DS recently turned two but is still not sleeping through the night. He wakes at 1 and 4 for a feed. Can anyone suggest when it might get better? We did have about a month of him sleeping through in June but it stopped as quickly as it started 😞 We don’t know what made him start to sleep through, and we don’t know what made it stop. I’m so tired!

DC1 slept through from day one, I had to wake him for feeds, DC2 is nearly 3 and still wakes once nearly every night. Every child is different.

I would stop the feeding, offer water instead. What are their evening sleep associations, do they feed to sleep?

I agree with @RandomMess - I would stop feeding when he wakes. He maybe isn't eating enough in the day because his body is expecting milk during the night?

As he is 2 are you just assuming he needs a feed at night and just feeding him when he doesn't need it. The feeding is a different situation from the waking up. He might just have separation anxiety. All of mine went through it. All of my 4 didn't sleep through until later. They all woke up in the night. My DS didn't sleep through until about 7 we just had a mattress on the floor next to our bed and they just came in and went straight back to sleep we did not try to keep taking them back to bed. We did what we had to do to get some sleep. They all grow out if it eventually.

I found stopping breastfeeding at night and offering water instead generally stopped night time wakenings. But my child was around 10 months when I did this, it may not have the same impact on a 2 year old. But worth a go I think.

When you say a feed, is it a BF? Have you thought of trying some gentle night weaning?

Watching with interest as my second child is nearly 3, he’s been weaned for 8 months and still wakes up at least once to climb into someone else’s bed 😅
