So, last night ds (12 months) went to bed at 7pm, woke and cried for a while at 7.30pm, slept until 1am, woke and cried for about 10 mins, woke at 2.45am and cried/wriggled around my bed for 90 mins before crashing out in his cot at 4.15, woke at 5.30am for a bottle and then went to sleep until 6.30.

I don't think I want tips, advice or anything other than some solidarity from other parents whose children don't seem to understand that night times are for sleeping...

(In his defence, I should probably say he's usually not that bad - one short waking and a 5.30am start is fairly normal)

14 month old awake singing baa baa black sheep at 5.30am. Does that count?

We just left he to it and she fell back asleep on her own!

mmelody · 27/06/2008 18:32

11 month old DS went to bed at 6.30, awake at 11 then came into my bed and slept till 1.30 then awake and snacking (BF) about every hour and a half till up for the day at 5.05am.. he has NEVER slept through the night!

snickersnack · 27/06/2008 20:44

cheesesarnie and nmelody - deepest sympathy but that did make me feel a bit less desperate, thank you. puppymonkey, I dream of the day I am woken for the first time at 5.30 by a small amount of singing that then stops when the small chirping person goes back to sleep on their own for another hour or so.

Hey there - am new to MUMS NET in the hope that I get some reassurance/advice.
My DD has just started screaming every time I put her in her cot. Is 12 months - used to settle herself to sleep ok. Now stands in her cot screaming. Have tried leaving her to cry and going in to lie her down occasionally but the only way she wil settle is if I pat her then sit by her cot until she falls asleep. How long will this last? Problems started when we went to stay with family and put her to bed in a travel cot when we got there/later than usual.
She had a couple of good nights when i got home - then had MMR.
Don't think its necessarily MMR but more like separation anxiety. Patting / being with her works but will she ever return to settling herself if she gets used to me doing this?? This is my main worry. Thanks for any advice.

i was up 27 times the first night, 24 times the following night SO binned the fecking thing, wanted to jump of the pier.
these were normal nights to me till he was 4

snicker - solidarity! DS has never slept through at 11 months. Last night was fab - took an hour to settle, eventually dropped off at 9ish, awake again at midnight, took an hour to settle (went to bed with him and BFed him), woke once between then and half 6 (a lie in for me!). Like I say, that was a pretty good night all round!

However, we are making progress, albeit slow.

Beet, the only advice I could offer is to be there for her if she needs you to be there for her, and it will pass in time - everything does.

Last night ds went to bed at 7pm, after much patting and hand holding and me sneaking out when he was asleep. He woke up crying at 10 but went back to sleep til 1am when he screamed, took an hour of rocking and patting to get him back to sleep. Up again screaming at 3:40am standing in cot and only went town at 4:40am after a feed and more patting and more hand holding. He hates being put down and cries whenever put back in his cot. Woke again to start the day at 5:44.

last 3 weeks 11mo dd has gone to bed at 7pm - rolled around and shouted until about 7.30pm. Slept until about 11.30pm then wailed until about 12.30 - awake again at around 2.30am/3am for a couple of hours - awake again by 6am. DH and I on our knees with tiredness and snapping at each other so resorted to taking turns to sleep in the spare room.

dd had been fantastic sleeper until this all started! But has "slept through" ie/only made little meeps through the night but nothing necessitating me actually leaving my bed for the last 3 nights - so fingers crossed!

violetsmile · 28/06/2008 16:46

Snap, my ds was a fab sleeper til about 2 months ago. It seemed to coincide with him realising he could sit up from laying down and now worse since he can stand up. Hoping this phase passes soon.

charchargabor · 29/06/2008 17:59

Last night I took 11 month old dd to bed at 8.30. Nursed her to sleep, and she got straight up again. I then had to fight with her for an hour to get her to go back to sleep again. Luckily after that she slept til 2. Then into my bed and fed on and off til morning. [yawn]

chunkypudding · 30/06/2008 13:30
