Perfect sleeper 2.5 year old now not sleeping in own bed

Hi everyone ☺️

My youngest son, 2 and a half, has randomly started waking every night between 10 and midnight. He’s always been a brilliant sleeper, bar the odd illness and teething.

Normally he goes to sleep around 7 -7.30 in the evening and doesn’t wake until 6-7 in the morning, he’s done this for almost 2 years. Now hes waking around 3-5 hours later after falling asleep and will not settle. We have two older boys, 6 and 4, who aren’t the best sleepers so we’ve had to bring the youngest to our bed to settle as quickly and quietly as possible , which he does.

I don’t understand the change, he’s never been one for sleeping with us. I don’t mind, I’ve co slept with all of them at some point when they’ve needed it but it has always been obvious why such as teething, illness etc. He’s always liked his own bed, but trying to put him back down even fast asleep just isn’t working recently 🙈

My husband is on the sofa and I don’t sleep brilliantly with them in bed, like I said I don’t mind if they need it, it’s just exhausting for both of us.

Anyone had similar experiences?? Desperately trying to find something that’ll help! ☺️

Is he still napping?

Perhaps the bedtime should be a bit later.

@NCJD He’s gradually dropping the nap. Occasionally he’ll have a nap
but honestly doesn’t seem make a different either way.

@comfyshoes2022 we thought this. The problem is we’ve tried moving bed time a little but he gets overtired, especially days where he has been at nursery. When we have managed to push bedtime he’s still woken 🤷‍♀️
